“But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. 6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, 7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God
This Sunday is Reformation Sunday, exactly 504 years since the Protestant Churches began, when Martin Luther pinned his 95 Theses to the door of Wittenberg College, where he taught. Luther was both a Priest and a College Professor, when challenged the, then, Catholic Church on 95 points.
All points boil down to that we sinners are saved by the grace/mercy/kindness/deep love of God. While we were dead in our selfishness and sin God moved and His “loved lifted me/us”. He, who is rich in mercy, has great love for us; so much so that He made us alive through the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.
If these things be so, as scripture says, then we ought to gather again and express our sincere gratitude to the One who saved us by His grace. COVID has knocked us down a lick, but it is time to to come together and praise the Lord.
Of course, Sunday is Halloween as well as Reformation Sunday but Church takes precedence
